Welcome!

gone but not forgotten 01

This site is a continued work in progress which is dedicated to all who traveled this road of life before us and made us who we are today. Thank you in advance to all those who have already done much research in compiling information that is or will be posted within.

On the front end, it is reiterated that historical mistakes occur whether in textbooks, death certificates, newspapers,  or grave markers just to name a few. If anyone finds inaccuracies contained within, please bear all this in mind. Applicable notes will be inserted to indicate discrepancies. Case in point, errors in the dates on James Jefferson Wright’s and Mary Ann Gleason-Wright’s monument. Respectful input is welcomed along with supporting information. Scroll down to read more on how to submit articles, photos, etc.

At this point, the story begins with James Wright b. 1799  in [Amherst County?] Virginia (father of James Jefferson Wright b. 1832) who moved to Ross County Ohio. Many of his descendants are working collaboratively to verify a Shawnee Indian connection and to reach farther back to discover not only his parents, but additional familial information as well.

Currently, the Photos of Unknown Family Members’ page is dedicated to pictures of family members which need identification. Other pages will be added for branches of James’ family tree which will contain photos and other documents as well as any other pertinent stories, articles, etc. that the family would like to share.

The main goal in developing this site is to bring as much information together as possible in one place thereby making it convenient to locate and enjoy.

Our family’s history is like the unfurled fragrant petals of a beautiful rose which momentarily enriches our lives; then, withers. . .falling away and is forever gone.  If we fail to take the opportunity now to preserve our familial history, important information and stories will be eternally lost.
